Our Countdown Is Turned Upside Down As Seven Songs Enter The Top10 For The First Time, Including Steve Wariner, Chris LeDoux & Mark Chesnutt.
Well, I never would’ve been able to predict this week’s Throwback Top10 Countdown standings. The whole cart has been flipped upside down as SEVEN songs that were on last week’s countdown have been replaced by new songs in this edition. That includes the previous #1 song, “Neon Moon” by Brooks & Dunn, which last week received nearly 2,000 votes!
With that being said, we have a brand new song coming in at the top spot with Steve Wariner’s “The Tips Of My Fingers”! Wariner has made numerous appearances on the Throwback Top10, but this marks the first time that he lands at #1!
Only three songs from our previous chart held on for a position this week. Tanya Tucker’s “Some Kind Of Trouble,” takes #2, marking the country music legends highest peaking song since the beginning of our weekly poll. Hal Ketchum and Wynonna join Tucker with songs at #6 and #7, respectively.
Along with the above mentioned Steve Wariner song, Rodney Crowell, Chris LeDoux, Suzy Bogguss, McBride & The Ride, Mark Chesnutt and Aaron Tippin all bring new songs to the table. It will be interesting to see which of these 90’s classics remain in the Top10 next week, not only with the previous songs likely to be looking for a comeback, but also five new songs entering the poll. It’s going to be a wild week of voting!
I have chosen not to retire any songs from the poll this week in order to give all of the first week’s songs a solid six weeks before elimination. We will certainly be saying goodbye to a few country classic after next week’s results, so make sure to VOTE for your three favorite songs, once PER HOUR between now and Sunday night at 9PM ET!
Retired From This Week’s Poll:
– No Songs Retired
Added To This Week’s Poll:
- Sawyer Brown – Some Girls Do
- Ricky Van Shelton – Backroads

*Readers may vote for 3 songs, EVERY HOUR, until the poll closes on Sunday night at 9PM ET. Results will be posted shortly after, with a new poll opening at 6AM ET on Monday morning. Songs will generally be retired after 6 weeks or due to a lack of fan interest. If a song remains at #1 for 3 weeks straight, it will be retired as a CERTIFIED “BORN Country” hit!
