John Berry was one of the first 90’s country music superstars to support the cause here at BORN Country. With John’s upcoming new album What I Love The Most, hitting online retailers in physical and digital formats on June 3rd, make sure you take a look at our early review of the new album, HERE.
In celebration of John’s newest album, let’s take a look back at five of his biggest career hits from throughout the 90’s!
5. Change My Mind (1996)
No one performs a love song quite like John Berry can. I think you’ll notice that theme following along with this Top 5 list. “Change My Mind” was originally recorded and released by the legendary Oak Ridge Boys in 1991. This would be another Top 10 hit for John in 1996.
4. Standing On The Edge Of Goodbye (1995)
Co-written by John, this 1995 hit takes what John does best and brings the tempo up a bit. The title track from the album of the same name became Berry’s second highest charting song at #2 on the Billboard Country charts.
3. She’s Taken A Shine (1996)
John’s second #2 Billboard Country hit would come from the album Faces in 1996. “Shine” continues to be a crowd favorite at Berry’s live shows.
2. Kiss Me In The Car (1993)
SO “Kiss Me In The Car” didn’t quite make the same impact that the following singles would afterwards, but man, do I love this song! Peaking just above the Country Top 20 in 1993, John’s “newcomer” status would soon break with his next single.
1. Your Love Amazes Me (1994)
Here’s the one that really started it all! “Your Love Amazes Me” has got to be one of the best love songs, not only of the 90’s, but of all country music! I couldn’t possibly imagine how many engagements and weddings that this classic had a hand in. Not only was this John’s first Top 20 country hit, but it hit the top of the charts in 1994, and has no doubt become John’s biggest career hit.
This was a real challenge to narrow down to just five songs! With a handful of other classic 90’s hits from John, I was definitely on the fence for a few of these! Did your favorite John Berry hit make the Top 5? Let us know what we missed in the comments below!
